Maine Pressure Ulcer Prevention Collaborative

Quality Counts is currently working in several areas to help improve hospital care as part of our  participation in the Aligning Forces for Quality initiative, and particularly with support from nurse leaders around the state. One of the areas of focus is to help prevent pressure ulcers, through the Maine Pressure Ulcer Prevention (PUP) Collaborative.  Read more about this effort in the Maine Pressure Ulcer Prevention Collaborative - Concept Paper

The goal of Maine's PUP Collaborative is to improve patient-centered care by preventing pressure ulcers in institutionalized patients by supporting the implementation of a set of key strategies that aim to drive the incidence of pressure ulcers towards zero.  Nurse leadership and the involvement of bedside nursing staff are keys to the success of this initiative, and a focus on nurse leadership is a critical element of the improvement strategy
