Performance Measurement & Public Reporting of Quality Data: PTE Updates

As the Maine Health Management Coalition’s Pathways to Excellence (“PTE”) program has moved to use national recognition programs over the last few years, primary care practices have faced new challenges in continuing to participate in public reporting of quality data. Adult practices will now need to use one of the national recognition programs, such as the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) or Bridges to Excellence (BTE), to achieve PTE recognition. To help with these changes, both MHMC and Quality Counts are offering additional communications and assistance to help more primary care practices participate. We hope that those who stay involved will find that raising quality ratings is not as daunting as it may seem. We are confident that the move to make PTE more consistent with national reporting programs has reduced duplicative reporting efforts and improved the standardization and efficiency of clinical performance measurement and public reporting efforts nationally.
